The Brief
Chesterfield College, a leading provider of further education, higher education, apprentices, and professional training, tasked Domino Interiors with the complete refurbishment of the fourth floor south block. This formed part of the colleges’ overall masterplan to create a unified and inclusive campus. For this project it was necessary for all works to be completed outside of normal teaching terms, with all areas completed and handed over within the strict timeframes, as outlined by the client. We also encountered asbestos during the project which added more pressure to the programme timeline.

Chesterfield College required Domino Interiors to refurbish the whole fourth floor south block.
The works comprised of a strip out of partition walls / block wall, suspended ceiling, tiles, and grid. We also had to uplift the existing flooring and install new plasterboard partitions, suspended ceiling, new flooring, and décor throughout. Our in-house M&E team replaced all data and power sockets and installed new network trunking to allow for better connectivity.

The Outcome
Through careful planning, phasing of the works and proactive communication with Chesterfield College, the works were successfully completed within budget and two weeks ahead of programme. The client was very happy because this meant that the building would be fully operational in time for the new school term, allowing all staff to become familiar with their new surroundings for a successful and smooth handover.
