The Brief
Domino Interiors worked with Radisson Blu in central Birmingham on a large-scale refurbishment project of 211 rooms over 18 floors. The work was carried out in six phases, three floors at a time whilst the hotel was still in operation. This required our team to work to tight timescales as each phase took eight weeks to complete.

We delivered a full furniture package that included carpets, curtains, all fixed and loose furniture for the bedrooms.
We coordinated with the hotel’s staff on the use of a goods lift in order to remove the old furniture and install new carpets, curtains, beds and a case goods package (headboards, sideboards and loose furniture). Our in-house M&E division installed new ventilation, heating, AV and data to every room. We upgraded a range of rooms including twin, standard double and a presidential suite, along with a gym.

The Challenges
We worked to strict deadlines as the hotel was prebooking the newly refurbished rooms out before we moved on to the next phase of the project. The team started on the top floor and made their way down to the bottom following a detailed plan and routine to make sure we were on time and in budget.


The Outcome
The hotel refurbishment was a great success with occupancy levels increasing by over 30% due to the upgrade to the quality of the furniture and look and feel of the rooms. This was a brilliant return on investment for the hotel, and they were very pleased with the quality of our work.
