OAKHURST CHILDRENS HOME

The Brief

The refurbishment of Oakhurst Children’s Home was a rewarding project where we brought our expertise to create a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for its young residents. This £420,000 project, completed over six months between October 2023 and April 2024, involved a full strip-out and refurbishment of the home’s interiors. Our team worked closely with the client to deliver on their vision, and the results speak for themselves.

Key Objectives:

The scope of work covered everything needed to breathe new life into the home. This
included structural changes, new internal walls and doors, updated plumbing and electrics,
and a full range of finishing touches. We installed durable, safety-conscious flooring—non-slip
vinyl, carpets, and entrance matting—along with painted walls, ceilings, and skirting to
complete the look.
The refurbishment also included a fully fitted kitchen, designed to be both practical and
stylish, and upgrades to the mechanical systems to ensure the building met modern
standards.

Our Approach

Our Approach

At Oakhurst Children's Home, our approach focused on collaboration, quality, and safety to create a welcoming and functional space for its young residents. From the outset, we worked closely with Arc Partnership and key stakeholders to ensure that every design decision reflected the needs of the children.

Works Completed
Planning and Design
The project began with detailed consultations between Arc Partnership, Domino
Commercial Interiors, and stakeholders to ensure the design aligned with the children’s needs. Key considerations included functionality, child safety, and creating an environment conducive to growth and well-being.
Demolition and Construction
A complete interior strip-out was carried out, followed by structural enhancements. New internal walls were constructed to optimise space, and durable internal doors were installed, complemented by high-quality ironmongery.
Finishes and Aesthetic Upgrades
Walls, ceilings, and timber features were professionally painted to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Wall panels and skirting added visual texture, while diverse flooring types—including non-slip vinyl and carpets—enhanced safety and comfort.
Functional Renovations
The kitchen was entirely refurbished to provide a modern, practical space. Plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems were upgraded to improve functionality, efficiency, and compliance with the latest safety standards.
