The Brief
Westfield House required modifications to their 8th floor to create a separate and functional workspace while maintaining compliance with fire safety regulations. The project involved stripping out existing WC and shower areas, relocating furniture, and installing new partitioning to define separate office and meeting room spaces. Additionally, upgrades to mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems were necessary to support the new layout.

Key Objectives:
Structural Adjustments:
Removal of WC areas, partition walls, and select ceilings.
Installation of new fire-rated and non-fire-rated partitions to define separate office and meeting spaces.
Modifications to perimeter heating and door installations to ensure fire separation.
Mechanical & Electrical Upgrades:
Stripping out and modifying existing M&E systems, including lighting, data, and power supply.
Installation of new floor boxes, lighting adjustments, and additional fire safety measures.
Consideration for heating and ventilation adjustments in repurposed areas.
Finishing & Decoration:
Installation of new carpet tiles in refurbished areas.
Fire-stopping measures for service penetrations.
Repainting affected walls and ceilings for a cohesive finish.

The project successfully optimised the floor layout, creating distinct office and meeting areas while enhancing fire safety compliance. Retaining certain structural elements helped reduce costs without compromising quality. The workspace is now more functional, with improved aesthetics and better-defined areas for staff use.
Works Completed
The refurbishment of Westfield House’s 8th floor successfully transformed the space into a functional and compliant workspace. The project involved a structured approach, ensuring that all modifications met fire safety regulations while enhancing usability.
Structural Enhancements:
Outdated WC areas, partitions, and ceiling sections were carefully stripped out to make way for a more efficient layout. New partitions were installed to clearly define office and meeting spaces while maintaining fire-rated separation where necessary.
M&E Upgrades:
Electrical and data systems were reconfigured to support the new workspace arrangement, with additional floor boxes and lighting installed for improved functionality. Fire safety measures were also upgraded to align with compliance standards.
Aesthetic & Finishing Touches:
The transformation was completed with new carpet tiles, refreshed wall and ceiling finishes, and fire-stopping measures to reinforce safety. These final touches ensured a cohesive, professional, and practical workspace for occupants.
The completed works maximised the space’s potential, delivering a safe, modern, and well-organised working environment tailored to Westfield House’s operational needs.
The Outcome
Through strategic modifications, the 8th Floor Separation project at Westfield Health delivered a compliant, efficient, and cost-effective working environment. The reconfiguration has resulted in a workspace that supports operational needs while maintaining safety and aesthetic appeal.
