The Brief 
The Navigation House refurbishment aimed to modernise and optimise key areas within the building, including the staff kitchen, meeting rooms, and working spaces.  
The focus was on improving functionality and aesthetics while maintaining cost-effectiveness. 
 
Key Objectives: 
 
Staff Kitchen: Update the look and feel, remove amphitheatre seating, repaint walls in soft grey, and add a coffee point to reduce congestion. 
Meeting Rooms: Remove wallpaper murals and repaint walls grey for a professional appearance. 
Staff Working Area: Eliminate branding, repaint walls and pillars grey, and streamline the overall design. 
 
Works Completed 
 
Demolition and Preparation: 
Removal of murals, orange design elements, and amphitheatre seating. 
Surface preparation, including adhesive residue removal 
 
Painting and Finishing: 
Application of grey emulsion to walls and pillars, with eggshell paint for timber details. 
 
Kitchen Upgrades: 
Installation of a new kitchen with updated fittings and a concrete-effect worktop. 
Addition of a coffee point with a small sink and power access. 
 
 
The Result 
The project delivered a refreshed, cohesive workspace with a neutral 
aesthetic. Space optimisation in the kitchen reduced congestion, while 
modern updates like the coffee point and splashback improved staff 
convenience.  
The cost-effective approach, including reusing appliances, 
ensured budgetary goals were met without compromising quality. 
 
The refurbishment of Navigation House successfully achieved the goals 
of creating a functional, modern, and inviting workspace tailored to 
staff needs. It demonstrates how thoughtful upgrades can significantly 
enhance workplace satisfaction and usability.
